Advanced Features

  • The Text Editor. Wikispaces has two different editors. We have a user-friendly visual editor which is built upon a wikitext editor. We currently support the visual editor in recent version of the Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers. If you use a non-supported browser, including Safari or Opera, this section could be useful for you.
  • Theme Customizations. You can find instructions here for some of our most highly-requested theme customizations.
  • Using OpenID. If you have an OpenID, you can use it to sign into your Wikispaces account.
  • Blog Integration. Integrate your blog with your Wikispace. Import a blog entry on to your wiki. Currently, we only support Typepad.
  • Automatic Merging and Autosaving Drafts. Wikispaces has a tool which merges non-conflicting changes when several people are working on the same page at once. Learn about this feature as well as other ways you can manage how your team works in your Wikispace.
  • Search. Learn how to search Wikispaces for other public and protected spaces and tags.

Wikitext

Wikitext is the markup language for wikis. Here you can find out the text markup rules that Wikispaces uses. Remember that you can skip wikitext entirely by using the visual editor. However, if the visual editor is not available (as in certain browsers like Safari), knowing some wikitext could be useful. You might also use wikitext if you would like to format discussion posts or if you would like to add advanced features to your Wikispace, such as anchors or includes.
  • Text Formatting. Learn how to format text with wikitext.
  • Links and Anchors. Learn how to add links to other pages in Wikispaces, other websites, or to certain positions on your page.
  • Images, Files, and Tables. Learn how to add images, files, and tables to your wikipage using wikitext.
  • Media, RSS, and Special Tags. See how you can add media, RSS feeds, your signature, source code, mathematics and more on this page.
  • Variables. Learn how to add dynamic information about your page or wiki, such as the number of members, onto your pages.
  • Includes. Here you can learn how to embed certain pages or content onto another page. This is useful if you want to include a discussion or history onto a wikipage.
